Shifting of Examination Branch: The examination system of this university was in a bad shape for the last 25 years. The Branch has been shifted from Allama Iqbal Campus to Quaid-i-Azam Campus. The Computer Cell has been placed under the Controller of Examinations for better control.
PU Examination Centre: The University has recently constructed an Examination Centre at Quaid-e-Azam Campus. It comprises 12 Halls for 6000 candidates at one time. It has internal communication system.
Outstanding Degrees: Over 600,000 degrees were outstanding since 1990. By the grace of ALLAH, we have succeeded in issuing all outstanding degrees. Recently a computerized degree has been designed and a new system using off-set machine is being used to produce 3000 degrees in one hour as against 20 for old system.
Improvements in Examination System
Examination system has been computerized.
Annual convocations are held regularly.
All results are available on-line.
Pass marks have been increased from 33 to 40% with an aggregate of 45% for both M.A./M.Sc. and B.A/B.Sc.
The thesis of Master of Surgery and Master of Dentistry will be sent to foreign experts for evaluation instead of local experts.
Central marking system has been introduced instead of external examiners to eliminate mal-practices/corruption and save time.
To control the menace of “Booti Mafia”, PU monitoring teams comprising senior University teachers carry-out surprise checks of examination centres. As a result the no. of UMCs decreased to a great extent as given below:-

Roll No.slips with computerized photos and verification letters are issued to all the candidates.
New cut-lists have candidate's photograph to facilitate cross-check. ID cards are not needed now.
New attendance chart is fully computer generated.
Semester System: Regulations for the Semester System have been revised. Following steps have been taken to improve it:-
a. Developed uniform and standard rules for evaluation of students.
b. Teachers are made responsible for the assessment evaluation of the students.
c. Transparency in marking has been introduced. Marked papers are shown to the students within one week of the examination before starting the next semester.
d. Comprehensive external examination will be held at the end of each year.

Out of 68 departments, 25 were still working on annual system, all departments have converted to semester system from September 2005. |
