Lecturer
Dr. Yasir Rehman

Dr. Yasir Rehman did his Masters in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, University of the Punjab, Lahore. He then did his PhD from the same above mentioned institute. During his PhD, He also worked in University of Oklahoma, USA, to achieve certain research goals. He worked on arsenic detoxification by bacteria both in aerobic and anaerobic conditions. He also studied the phylogenetic structure of arsenic affected bacterial communities through metagenomics studies and analyzed how the functional gene pool of the microbial communities can be affected by such contaminants. Currently he is working as Assistant Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, University of the Punjab, Lahore. His current research interest lies in how purple non-sulfur bacteria can respire arsenic to produce hydrogen, as well as metagenomics analysis of microbial communities.
