Dr Sheza Khilji joined the Department of Botany as an Assistant Professor. Her area of specialization is Environmental Biotechnology. She has been Awarded BEST PAPER AWARD in in 2nd International conference on Agriculture, Biological and Environmental Sciences (ICABES), 2015, held at Pattaya, Thailand. She has also published various research papers in Journals of national and international repute. Her research has focused on extraction and bioaccumulation of various pollutants from wastewater and industrial sludge by using various phytoremediation techniques. Her findings shows that different species of Typha and Lemna are found to accumulate several noxious metals and hence are being considered as experimental model systems to explore heavy metal mediated responses. Bioavailability and bioaccumulation of several heavy metals in aquatic as well as wetland ecosystems is now a day gaining remarkable significance all over the world.
She has been awarded various departmental merit scholarships, PSF fellowship, and travel grants (Turkey, USA and Thailand) to present her research work on international forum. She has been awarded fellowship to joined Department of Environmental Science and Policy, University of California, Davis, USA, as a visiting research scholar to conduct research on latest Eco-Physiological, Environmental, Biochemical and Molecular techniques. She has 7 years of teaching experience at graduate level at Department of Botany.
