Dr. Ghulam Fatima has done her M.Ed. in Special Education, Masters in English Literature and Ph.D in Education from Institute of Education & Research, University of the Punjab, Lahore. She has been serving in the field of Special Education for the last 25 years. She started her professional career as a teacher of children with hearing impairment at Allama Iqbal School for Special Education Sialkot Cantt. She served that school as a teacher, vice principal, then principal for fourteen years. Afterwards she was selected as Senior Special Education Teacher and served Government Deaf & Defective Hearing School Gujranwala Pakistan for one year and left that school after being selected as lecturer in the University of the Punjab, Lahore where she is working as Assistant Professor (on adhoc) till date. She has attended a number of courses/ workshops on Pakistan Sign Language, Audiology & Audiometry, Speech Language Pathology, Curriculum Development, Teaching Methods etc. She was awarded Tamgha e Sialkot by the district Government Sialkot on March 23, 2005 for her meritorious services in the field of Special Education. She is teaching to Master and M.Phil classes and supervising research theses at Master and M.Phil level. She has organized a number of seminars as In-charge Seminars. She has presented more than 70 research papers in national and international conferences. She has got 26 articles published in journals of national and international repute. She has visited Australia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and United States of America (two times) to present research papers and represented Pakistan in the world. She is the Academic Coordinator and a member of DDPC. She is also serving as Superintendent of Girls Hostel No.1, University of the Punjab. Her aim of life is to uplift the status of persons with disabilities by including them in general community. Her focus of interest is to conduct research studies on different areas of inclusive education, hearing impairment, visual impairment, physical disabilities, mental retardation etc.
