Engr. Ameeq Farooq
Ameeq Farooq has been working as Lecturer at the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering since 2018. He received his M.Sc. degree in 2013 and B.Sc. degree 2010 in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering from the same department and started his career as Research Engineer in 2010. He worked on the research project "Mitigation of Internal Corrosion of Steel-Pipes due to CO2 , H2S and Bacteria" jointly sponsored by the Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology (ICET) and Sui Northern Gas Pipeline (SNGPL). Based on his aptitude for research, in 2012 the University promoted him as Research Officer where his main responsibility was to interact and guide under-graduate, post graduate students and assist PhD scholars in their research projects. Currently, he is actively involved in providing the consulting services to many industries in Pakistan and is the In-charge of Corrosion Control Research Cell at the University of the Punjab. He is an active member of National Association of Corrosion Engineers (NACE) and is working as secretary of NACE Islamabad Pakistan Section a voluntary organization. He is registered engineer of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC), a life member of Society of Corrosion Engineers Pakistan (SOCEP), member of Institute of Corrosion (Icorr) and Faculty advisor of Materials Chapter Punjab University (MCPU). He has published more than 40 research articles in peer reviewed journals of high repute and has presented his research work at many national and international forums highlighted corrosion related issues. Mr. Farooq’s teaching and research interests include nanomaterials, solid/liquid interface, surface modification and treatments, coatings, cathodic protection, corrosion science & engineering etc.
