Prof. Muhammad Zakria Zakar is Dean of Faculty of Behavioural and Social Sciences and Director of the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies (ISCS), University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. Prof. Zakar has various research awards to his credit including Fulbright postdoctoral fellowship in Stony Brook University (2003), UNESCO award on poverty reduction (2005), and Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (2006). He was a DAAD-guest-professor in the School of Public Health, University of Bielefeld, Germany from 2010-2012 where he conducted research on the intersection of gender violence and health. His research interest includes work place discrimination, resource scarcity and conflict and violence, population and development studies, and health and human rights. He has more than 50 publications in his credit including 32 in international peer reviewed impact factor journals like BMC International human rights, Canadian journal of Behavioural Sciences, BMC Public health etc. He has also won the HEC Best Teacher Award and Presidential pride of performance award. Dr. Zakar has conducted various national and international research projects as Principal investigator (PI) with organizations like USAID, WHO, Ministry of Human Rights etc.
