PU launches Greens to Orchards drive


LAHORE: (Monday, March 9, 2020): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad has launched “Greens to Orchards Program” under which one hundred thousand fruit trees would be planted in the university. In this regard, a walk was organized from Institute of Education and Research to Institute of Chemical Engineering here on Monday. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad led the walk while Pro VC Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Mazhar, President Academic Staff Association Prof Dr Mumtaz Anwer Chaudary, Resident Officer-II Jaleel Tariq, deans, HoDs, faculty members, administrative officers, employees and a large number of students wearing green and white dresses participated in the walk.

The participants were carrying various posters bearing slogans i.e. "keep your campus clean", "think like a tree and grow fruit”, clean and green is our dream" and "live life in a full bloom". In his address, PU VC said that protection of environment was our collective responsibility because the future of our nations and next generation was associated with the environment. He said that PU was well-known for its green and clean environment and now we wanted to add fruits to the beauty of the campus. He appreciated the efforts of Resident Officer 2 Jalil Tariq in this regard. He also planted a fruit tree on the occasion.
