PU Teaching Department clinch inter collegiate super league
LAHORE: (Wednesday, June 20, 2012): Punjab University Teaching Department won inter collegiate super league by defeating PU Hailey College and completed the target of 153 runs on losing 5 wickets only.

Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, renowned empire Aleem Dar, Imran Farhat, Shafiq Papa, Azhar Zaidi, cricketer Ahmed Shahzad, former cricketer Manzoor Elahi, Chaudhry Akram, Director Sports Prof Dr Mansoor Sarwar, Additional Directors Sports Attia Mumtaz and Shamsa Hashmi and a large number charged audience from various walks of life participated on the occasion. Ahmed Akram, the captain of wining team, was declared man of the match and man of the series who scored 203 runs and took 8 wickets in series while scored 67 runs and took 2 wickets in the final.

Hailey College for the first time achieved to be finalist while PU Law College team stood third in the series. Trophies, cash prizes and certificates were distributed among the winning teams and the players who showed outstanding performance during the series. Speaking on the occasion, PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran said that sports taught tolerance and the person who did not learn to lose created problems for others. He said that once no such activities were held in PU sports grounds but now it could be hoped that Punjab University would get its place at national level. He specially thanked the guests for participating in the event and encouraging the emerging players. Inter-Collegiate Super League 2012 started on June for in which teams from 4 zones including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Rawalpindi participated. Each zone consisted of 10 to 12 teams. |
