LAHORE: (Friday, July 13, 2012): Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Mujahid Kamran said that Allah has bestowed special children with special capabilities. He was speaking at a lunch hosted in the honour of Punjab University’s special children at executive club here on Friday. Chairman Hall Council Prof Dr Muhammad Akhtar, Resident Officer 1 Javed Sami, Mian Muhammad Saeed Dery Waly, Maher Rashid Younus, Senior Vice President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industries, Pattern In-chief Special Children Punjab University Dr Waqar Chaudhry and a large number of special children participated on the occasion.

The VC said that no society could progress without polishing and encouraging the capacities of its members. Dr Waqar Chaudhry said that Dr Kamran had taken revolutionary steps for the welfare of special children in the history of Punjab University and had provided them with free education, free boarding and scholarships. Shamsul Islam, a special child with PU Gold Medal and second position holder in Punjab Public Service Commission, thanked PU Vice Chancellor and said that Punjab University was the only university in the country where special children had been facilitated the most. Later, special students were awarded with two cash prizes of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000, 3,000 and 2,000 funded by Mian Saeed, Mahar Rashid Younas and Dr Waqar Chaudhry through a draw.
