Pakistanis urged to value blessing of independence

LAHORE: (Tuesday, August 14, 2011): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that Pakistanis must value the blessing of independence otherwise the Muslims of Subcontinent could lost in the darkness. He was addressing the flag-hoisting ceremony in connection with Independence Day in front of VC Office, New Campus.

Acting Registrar Prof Dr Aurangzeb Alamgir, Controller Examinations Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Prof Dr Khawaja Amjad Saeed, Prof Dr Ehsan Malik, Member Syndicate Javed Samee, Shumaila Gul, senior faculty members, employees, students and children participated in the ceremony. Dr Kamran said that the British destroyed the future of our literate young Muslims by declaring English language as official language and deprived young Muslims of good government jobs.

He said that after 1857 Independence War, the British prime minister issued instructions that historical buildings and architecture of the Muslims must be raised to the ground.

He said that we could now move around the country independently and our only issue was that our rulers had not paid heed to education and creation of new knowledge.

He said that Allah had bestowed Pakistanis with a great potential and Pakistanis were the most intelligent nation in the world. He said that Punjab University was a mini Pakistan and if it could progress, then why our country could not improve its situation.

He hoped that Pakistan would be on the right path in a year. He advised all the Pakistanis to do their work with honesty rather than criticizing others. He said that we must praise and appreciate others on their achievements and good performance. Later, the VC met all the participants and congratulated them on 66th Independence Day.
