PU, MoST sign MoU for research collaboration

LAHORE: (Monday, March 25, 2013): Punjab University and Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST) on Monday signed a Memorandum of Understanding at ceremony held at Institute of Bio-Chemistry and Bio-Technology.

PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran, Federal Secretary MoST Akhlaq Ahmed Tarrar, Managing Director STEDEC Kaukab Mohayuddin, Executive Director MoST Commercialization Cell Dr Syed Shahid Hussain, PU Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology Prof Dr Taqi Zahid Butt, Director CEMB Dr Tayyub Husnain, Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization Dr Amir Ejaz, Director External Linkages Maria Maldonado, senior faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Addressing the ceremony, Dr Mujahid Kamran lauded the efforts of the federal secretary for co-operation in research and MoU in science and technology. He said that the joint research ventures would now help resolve many problems currently being faced by academia, research institutions and industry. Mr Akhlaq Ahmed Tarrar said that some month ago, academia had no access to modern labs of research institutions and other installations of MoST but now we would do research with collaboration. He said that PU would now benefit from the resources of MoST and we would also approach industry for commercialization of our research products, which would help strengthen our economy. Later, Dr Kamran presented a souvenir of portrait to Mr Tarrar.
