Nations spending more money on education progressing: PU VC

LAHORE: (Wednesday, June 12, 2013): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that the nations who are spending more money on education are progressing in the world. He was addressing a ceremony organized in connection with 9th anniversary of Punjab University Radio FM 104.6 at Institute of Communication Studies’ Hameed Nizami Memorial Hall here on Wednesday. Advisor to Vice Chancellor Col (r) Ikramullah Khan, Dean Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences Prof Dr Zakria Zakir, Member Punjab Assembly Majid Zahoor, pride of performance Aslam Kamal, senior and veteran journalist Shahid Malik, Farrukh Sohail Goindi, Incharge ICS Dr Noshina Saleem, Radio Coordinator Sana Naveed, Program Manager Chaudhry Muhammad Irshad, renowned personalities related to radio, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Dr Mujahid Kamran said that it was a matter of pleasure for us that our students were playing important role in leading media organizations. He said that role of radio in providing information to its listeners in modern era was important. He advised the students to learn their subjects with enthusiasm and adopt reading habits. He urged the students to study history and literature besides their subjects. He congratulated ICS faculty and administration on the 9th anniversary of radio. MPA Majid Zahoor said that people wanted to listen good thoughts in beautiful words and radio was the best way in this regard. Highlighting the importance of radio, the speakers said that the importance of radio remains the same even after launching of TV channels. They said that radio was a powerful way of communication and quality of its programmes was better. Presenting report on Radio FM 104.6, Program Manager Chaudhry Muhammad Irshad said that we wanted to polish skills of talented students so that they could play their role in national development. Dr Zakria Zakir and Dr Noshina Saleem thanked PU VC Dr Mujahid Kamran for providing support to the institute.
