Portuguese ambassador visits PU


LAHORE: (Saturday, October 3, 2015): Ambassador of Portugal to Pakistan Dr. Joao Paulo Sabido Costa has visited Punjab University and met with Director External Dr Maria Isabel Maldonado at Committee Room of Vice Chancellor’s office. Mr Iftihkar Feroz, Honorary Counsul of Portugal and faculty members Institute of Languages (IoL) were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Sabido stated that he was very happy to see the IoL’s efforts for the promotion of Portuguese and other languages and he was very pleased that Dr. Maria and Ms. Ana Borges, lecturer Portuguese, had published research articles about Portuguese language in the journal of NUML University and one more international journal. Later, Dr. Sabido visited Punjab University Library, where he donated a Portuguese book which was earlier translated into Urdu and Chinese languages. Sabido stated that it was such a good library and he would have liked to become a student in PU. After that he visited IoL, where he donated 15 books of Portuguese language to the IOL library. Dr. Sabido expressed his pleasure that the university has a lecturer of Portuguese language and requested copies of the articles that faculty members had published. Dr. Sabido gifted a Portuguese book to Dr. Maria and Dr. Maria also gifted her recently published book ‘Urdu Evolution & Reforms’ to Dr. Sabido.
