As fire incidents can cause severe damage and pose serious threats to life, the Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, University of the Punjab, has been organizing fire trainings on regular basis. This involves fire drills and lectures on safety and precautionary measures that need to be taken in case of fire incidents. In this regard, Department of Microbiology & Molecular Genetics organized Demonstration and Hands-on training on the usage of fire extinguishers for its faculty members.

This involved usage of different types of fire extinguishers including powder based, carbon dioxide based and halotron-I fire extinguishers. Dr. Saira Malik, Assistant Professor MMG department, acted as resource person for this training, as she herself has done several fire-fighting courses. All the faculty members, including the Chairperson Prof. Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri attended the training and learned how to use fire extinguishers. Each faculty member individually operated the fire extinguishers and successfully extinguished the set fire.
