Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics has celebrated World Immunization Day on 28 April, 2016. These celebrations were organized by Dr. Nageen Hussain (Assistant Professor, MMG Dept-PU). The world’s most powerful tools for health are the use of vaccines to "immunize", people of all ages against disease.

The development of the polio vaccine reduced polio worldwide by 99% with only Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Pakistan as the remaining polio endemic countries until now. Similarly Pakistan is still facing other problems like measles, typhoid. An enthusiastic lecture was delivered by Dr. Imran Altaf (Assistant Professor, QOL-UVAS) on “The vaccines: A shield against infections.” He discussed different types of vaccines, their mode of actions as well as their advantages and disadvantages. His efforts in the field of Vaccinology were appreciated in the form of shield presented by Prof. Dr. Anjum Nasim Sabri (Chairperson, MMG Dept-PU). Various posters related to this day were also displayed by the students.
