The Vice Chancellor of University of the Punjab, Professor Dr. Zaffar Mueen Nasar visited Institute of Administrative Sciences (IAS) on 1st February 2017. Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen, Director IAS, along with all the faculty and administrative staff extended warm welcome to the worthy Vice Chancellor and presented the bouquet.

Prof. Dr. Zaffar Mueen Nasar inaugurated the newly-built halls at IAS with seating capacity of around 300 persons and 8 state of the art corporate offices connecting the two halls. A prayer was made by Prof. Dr. A.R. Jafri for the maintenance and success of the institute. The procession of the Vice Chancellor along with faculty and staff members made a tour of the institute including library, computer lab, offices and classrooms. Dr. Nasar then had a one to one interactive session with all the faculty members and administrative staff at the committee room. Dr. Nasar showed keen interest in knowing about the research areas of the faculty members and the contributions they have made so far in the form of their research and teaching. A healthy dialogue was exchanged on the areas of research and provision of quality education to the youth. He shared his observations about the institute, faculty and student body and highly appreciated the potential of the team and the efforts being put by the management and faculty. Dr. Nasar shared his pleasure in knowing about the Career Advisory & External Linkages function at IAS and the statistics of graduate placements. He placed great emphasis on the need of such a function that is inevitable for the economic progress. The Director also shared with Dr. Nasar, the establishment of an Endowment Fund in the name of the 1st Pakistani Chairman of the institute with the alumni support, to provide merit-based scholarships to the needy students. Quite optimistically, he shared the areas of improvement with the members that they can work upon, bringing IAS at par with one of the best institutes of the region. Dr. Nasar shared the university’s initiatives for faculty development with special reference to the scholarships and incentive awards. The faculty exchanged their views and opinions over a cup of tea and refreshments. The Director IAS, Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen and Mr. Muahmmad Zahid – senior faculty member, thanked the Vice Chancellor for giving his time and sharing valuable insights. As a token of gratitude, the worthy Vice Chancellor, Dr. Zaffar Mueen Nasar was presented the institutional souvenirs and prospectus by Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen. Before leaving, Dr. Nasar was requested for a memorable group photo in the IAS premises. The fervor and motivation could be seen quite evidently among all faculty, staff and students upon the visit of Vice Chancellor.
