PU HCBF celebrates Insurance Day


LAHORE: (Saturday, April 15, 2017): Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance has organized an awareness declamation contest in connection with celebration of Insurance Day. The objective of the celebration was to increase awareness in the general public about the benefit accruing from Insurance. Principal HCBF Prof Dr. Mubbsher Munawar Khan, CEO Atlas Insurance Mr. Arshad P. Rana, CEO Al Falah Insurance Mr. Nasar us Samad Qureshi, Chairman IAP North Mr. Abdul Haye and Mr. Muhammad Ishaq Khan attended the event. The topic of contest was “why educated youth should adopt Insurance as profession”. A large number of students enrolled in the discipline of Insurance & Risk Management participated in the event to express their solidarity with the insurance profession. The speakers expressed their hopes that the educated youth has enough potential to tap the vast segment of the society and increase the penetration of Insurance. They said the comparatively lower rate of underwriting could be increased if educated youth is employed to create awareness in the public. The students were confident that with the quality of education being provided by HCBF in the discipline of Insurance & Risk Management, the graduating youth could accept the challenge. With their better understanding of risk management they can analyze the risks associated and can suggest remedial course to protect the interest of the public in general and business community in particular. The audience appreciated the zealous speeches and innovative ideas. Declamation contest was judged by the panel comprising Prof. Dr. Mubbsher Munawar Khan, Mr. Nasar us Samad Qureshi and Mr. Muhammad Ishaq Khan. Ms. Farwa Gul and Mr. Junaid Tauqeer emerged to be the winners of the event. Mr. Arshad P. Rana, in his address appreciated the efforts of college management in achieving academic excellence. He remarked that the graduated students of HCBF had potential to come up to the expectations of the employers. He stressed upon the need to identify the potential of students to explore unidentified business areas thus increasing the portfolio of the business. Mr. Nasar us Samad Qureshi, informed that the graduates of the college were well received in insurance industry. He however advised the graduates to be prepared to move out for career advancement, as a lot of Insurance Business was out of the hometowns. He advised the students to keep themselves abreast of developments taking place in the profession. Mr. Abdul Haye appreciated the efforts of HCBF in promoting the cause of awareness through the academic programs. He expressed upon the need to strengthen linkages for diversified professional programs. Mr. Muhammad Ishaq Khan, a renowned figure of Insurance Industry, advised the students for continuous development. He narrated his success story giving details of his efforts for career and academic excellence. He appreciated the quality of education at HCBF and informed that over 200 graduates of the HCBF were serving in reputed insurance companies in the Gulf region. He termed the qualified young graduates of HCBF as the life blood for Insurance Industry necessary to keep it on faster pace of development. Speaking at the event Dr. Mubbsher expressed his confidence that with the support of Insurance Industry, the graduating students would be well placed in the Insurance companies. He said their knowledge and skills have reposed confidence of insurance industry on the product of the college. The principal invited the Insurance leaders to join hands with HCBF and launch workshops for enhancing the skills of working executives. In the end, souvenirs were presented amongst the distinguished participants.
