Sunday 2nd September 2018: Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar had announced that one hundred thousand trees would be planted on campuses as part of PU administration's vision to play its role in protection of environment. In this regard, University of the Punjab Jhelum Campus in collaboration with Jhelum Forest Division kicked off tree plantation campaign. Director PU Jhelum Campus Dr. Muhammad Mudassar Ghafoor, DFO Mr. Sajid Qadoos, SDFO Mr. Sadheer Mughal, ADCG Mr. Bilal Feroz, ADCF Mr. Rabnawaz Hussain, ADCR Mr, Khalid Mehmmod, MPA Mr. Ch. Zafar Iqbal, DIO Mr. Usman Ahmed, faculty members, administrative staff and students were present on the occasion.

While addressing the students DFO Mr. Sajid Qadoos said, that it was our national duty to keep our environment clean and he also highlighted the importance of trees and forests in the society. While talking to the media Director Dr. Mudasar shared the vision of the Worthy Vice-Chancellor that various types of pollution were taking the toll of hundreds of thousands of lives every year and if we did not take steps in right directions, it would be difficult for our upcoming generations to survive. He said that PU would also play role to create awareness among people at large for saving our environment.
