PU PSC organizes seminar


LAHORE: (Tuesday, March 28, 2017): Punjab University’s Pakistan Study Centre has organized a seminar on "Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah: The Charismatic Leader" in connection with Pakistan Day Celebrations. Prof. Dr. Massarrat Abid, Director of the Centre presided over the session while Prof. Dr. Sikandar Hayat, Professor of History and Public Policy, FC College University, Lahore was the keynote speakers. Dr. Amjad Abbas Magsi conducted the proceedings of the event. Prof. Dr. Sikandar Hayat highlighted various attributes of the charismatic leadership of Quaid-e-Azam. He elaborated Jinnah's extraordinary faith in his ownself and said charismatic leadership emerges during the time of crisis. He said that Mr Jinnah had sensed the growing crisis of Muslim majority/minority syndrome. He said Jinnah well understood that in case of centralized federation, Muslims would be at the receiving end and the Hindus by dint of majority would be in the driving seat. He said the congress due to its policies of narrow mindedness pushed Muslims to the wall. He said British left India because of their own reasons and their inability to look after India especially after World War II and the war precipitated the partition of India. He said that as a charismatic leader, Jinnah succeeded in achieving his goal despite displeasure of the British and the Congress who wanted undivided India. He said that United India was in the favor to thwart Russian threat. Faculty members, students of various departments of the Punjab University attended the lecture which was concluded with a lively question-answer session.
