PU IAGS organizes Int’l seminar on sustainable crop


LAHORE: (Saturday, April 22, 2017): Punjab University Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAGS) has organized one day international seminar on “Sustainable Crop Production for Food Security” under changing climate at its seminar room.

Director IAGS Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Haider, Former IG National Highways &Motorway Police Zafar Abbas Lak, Member Provincial Assembly Sardar Vickas Hassan Mokal, Mian Shafiq ullah from Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited, Shamsher H. Khan from CNFA, Prof. Dr. Shahzad M.A. Basra from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Dr. Syed Aftab Wajid from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, Dr. Munawar Saleem from University of Swabi, Dr. M. Iqbal Makhdum from Harvest Plus, Pakistan, President Pakistan Kissan Ittehad Malik Khalid Mahmood Khokhar, Mr. Peter A. Dickrell Chief of Party USAID (AMD), scientist from various research organizations, academia, agro- industries and progressive farmers participated in the seminar. In his address, Dr Saleem said that the scientists of IAGS were playing their role in resolving the problems being faced by farmers so that the country as well as the nation could benefit from the agricultural products. Peter Dickrell highlighted the role of USAID in improving the quality of fruits and vegetables of Pakistan for export and increases the income of farmers. President Pakistan Kissan Ittehad Malik Khalid Mahmood Khokhar discussed the issues of farming community in changing climate. Zafar Abbas Lak stressed on immediate construction of dams to meet the water requirements of crops and combating the energy crisis. Assistant Professor Agronomy Dr Muhammad Bilal Chattha was the chief organizer of this seminar who highlighted the objectives of the seminar.
