LAHORE: (Tuesday, September 12, 2017): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir has said that Pakistan and China would develop each other through CPEC and we must appreciate China’s development plan for Pakistan. He was addressing the concluding ceremony of two-day international conference on CPEC China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) political, economic and social perspectives organized by Punjab University Department of History & Pakistan Studies at the department here on Tuesday. Dean Faculty of Arts and Humanities Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla, Prof Saifullah Janjua, Vice President Nanjing University, Xianlin Campus Dr Zhu Qinbao, Prof Dr Agnieszka Kuszewska from University of Social Sciences & Humanities, Warsaw, Poland, Dr Mahboob Hussain, researchers, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Addressing the ceremony, Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir said that no country was willing to invest in Pakistan but China was investing unprecedented 46 billion dollars for the country’s development in major sectors. He said that China would get shortest trade route to export its goods while Pakistan would also take maximum benefits from the opportunity. He said that Pakistani people were facing poverty and CPEC would bring prosperity to the households. He said that through CPEC Integrated Study Centre at PU, we would portray the right image of CPEC before the international community because some negative lobbies were propagating against the CPEC. Addressing the conference, Dr Agnies…. said that that Pakistan was a country of international importance as it was strategically located on a significant location and was an atomic power. She said that not only Pakistan and China rather many countries of the world would benefit from CPEC. She said that CPEC would have major impact on economic and social development of Pakistan. Nanjing University’s Vice President Prof Dr Zhu Cingbao said that the universities of China and Pakistan should work under a framework to promote bilateral relations. He said that various economic, social and geographic issues had been highlighted in the conference and all the participants had learnt a lot. Prof Dr Iqbal Chawla said that internationally-recognized scholars from five countries and various national scholars presented their research work in 9 academic sessions. He said that the conference had proved the best opportunity to learn from each other. He said that such conferences would be organized in the future.
