Four One-day Orientation Sessions on Countering Violent Extremism


13th September 2017: Four One-day Orientation Sessions on Countering Violent Extremism with faculty members of University of the Punjab was organized under the banner of “Inspiring the Future” by College of Earth and Environmental Sciences (CEES), University of the Punjab in collaboration with Center for Health and Gender Equality (CHANGE).

These sessions were intended to engage the professors and administration staff in promoting peace narrative to their students through their day to day interaction.

It was attended by more than 120 participants of multiple departments which includes Sciences and Social Sciences. Throughout the session participants give away feedbacks based upon their experiences and make the session interactive.

These sessions engaged teaching and non-teaching faculty to orient them over the narrative of peace as it would be an effective tool to keep students on the path of peace and tolerance. In these sessions the professors extended their full support and cooperation in further dissemination of the peace narrative with other faculty members, administrative staff and students of the University of the Punjab.

The efforts of the implementation team was lauded by the Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khalid Khan, Registrar University of the Punjab and Prof. Dr. Shahid Kamal, Dean Faculty of Sciences. Moreover Prof Dr Sajid Rashid Ahmed, Principal CEES also appreciated the effort and claimed it to be dire need of time and effectively linked the topic with the daily routine of professors and administration staff.

In the end sessions were concluded with the distribution of appreciation certificates by the Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khalid Khan, Registrar University of the Punjab, Prof. Dr. Shahid Kamal, Dean Faculty of Sciences & Prof. Dr. Sajid Rashid Ahmad, Principal CEES.
