PU pays tribute to martyrs of 1965 war


LAHORE: (Friday, September 7, 2018): In connection with the celebrations of Defence Day Punjab University Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) organized a seminar to pay tribute to martyrs of 1965 War in its auditorium. Pakistan National Reform Movement (PNRM) Chairman Brig (r) Nadir Mir was the keynote speaker while Director CSAS Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid, faculty members, MPhil/PhD scholars and students were present on the occasion.
Brig (r) Nadir Mir said that the great nations never forget the sacrifices of their heroes and Pakistan was one of those nations which regularly pay tribute to its heroes. He said that it was not only the soldiers but the masses which were also side by side with Pakistan Army to defeat the malicious intents of Indians, he added. He said that Pakistan should never compromise on its sovereignty and national integration, unity and patriotism.
In her address, Prof Dr Umbreen Javaid thanked the participants and said that it’s due to the blood of our soldiers that today we are seated here so peacefully. She paid tribute and thanked all martyrs and their families.
