PU VC Inaugurates Fish Sale Point


LAHORE: (Wednesday, January 09, 2019): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar inaugurated fish sale at Punjab University New Campus, Lahore on Wednesday, January 09, 2019. Prof. Dr. Firdaus-e-Bareen, Dean Faculty of Life Sciences, Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal Qazi Chairman, Department of Zoology, Dr. Hafiz Abdullah Shakir, Incharge, Punjab University Fish Research Farm, Prof. Dr. Khalid Khan, Registrar, Mr. Malik Muhammad Zaheer, Resident Officer- II, senior faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Javed Iqbal Qazi welcomed the guests and described the role of biological sciences in the University. Punjab University Fish Research Farm supplies small size fish/young ones to research students of BS/M.Sc./M.Phil and Ph.D. A large number of fish specimens are also used during the practicals of different courses throughout the year. The surplus fish of above 1 Kg weight are sold to the faculty members and employees of the university. Prof. Dr. Firdaus-e-Bareen briefed the vice chancellor about the research conducted in Faculty of Life Sciences for the benefits of community and society. Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmad Akhtar lauded the research culture and team work of the Faculty of Life Sciences under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Firdaus-e-Bareen. Worthy Vice Chancellor has encouraged this activity and urge to increase the variety of fish species in the coming years.
