Universities to give direction to the nation: PU VC


LAHORE: (Tuesday, March 26, 2019): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Niaz Ahmad has said that Pakistan has abundance of natural and human resources due to which her future is bright. He said that it was the responsibility of the universities to give direction to the nation. He was addressing the seminar on “Pakistaniat” organized by Punjab University and Centre of Global & Strategic Studies (CGSS) at Al-Raazi Hall on Tuesday. Former Governor Punjab Lt Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool, President CGSS Major General (r) Syed Khalid Amir Jaffery, Vice President CGSS Major General (r) Masroor Ahmed, Former Minister of Information, renowned politician, intellectual, writer Javed Jabbar, Executive Director Zalmi Foundation Shakeel Ahmed Ramay, Member Advisory Board CGSS Abdullah Hameed Gull, Syed Muaaz Muhammad, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

In his address, the vice chancellor said that all the institutions of Pakistan were delivering and state organizations were functioning. He said that Pakistan Army was the number 1 Army in the world and that’s why it was capable of fighting the enemy which was five times bigger. Lt Gen (r) Khalid Maqbool said that forced conversion was highly condemnable act which could not be allowed in Pakistan. He said that Pakistan Army had the capacity to defend every inch of the country and its soldiers were the bravest soldiers. He said that some international powers were fanning propaganda against Islam and Pakistan Army and some forces wanted sexual freedom in the country. He said that Pakistan was strategically and geographically located in the most important location of the region and it was one of the most important trade corridors of the world. He said that there was abundance of natural resources in Pakistan and we must work hard for progress of Pakistan. He said that Pakistan would soon come out of energy crisis. He said China was one of the most trustworthy friends of Pakistan and he would become No 1 superpower very soon. Javed Jabbar said that Pakistan had a very unique national identity as compared to other countries that came into existence in the name of religion. He said that conspiracies were being hatched against Pakistan but we had the capacity to foil all such conspiracies. Major Gener (r) Khalid Amir Jaffery said that our youth was our biggest asset and there was need to provide guidance to them in right direction. He said that our future was in the hands of our youth and we must play our role to make Pakistan as per the vision of Quaid-e-Azam. Abdullah Hameed Gul, Shakeel Ramay also spoke. Later, souvenirs were distributed among the distinguished guests.
