PU IAP organized a seminar entitled "Personality Disorders"


Institute of Applied Psychology has arranged a series of webinars for creating Mental Health Awareness as a part of Independence Day Celebrations 2021 that would be continued till the end of August, 2021.The fifth webinar among the series was conducted by Ms Mirrat Gul Butt, who is a who is a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Mayo Hospital, Lahore. She is a Vice-President of Pakistan Association of Cognitive Therapists (PACT) and an executive member of PACP. She specializes in the courses CBT, CT, DBT skills and DBT with adolescents and family, on “Personality Disorders”, Wednesday, 25th August, 2021 at 11:30 am. The webinar was conducted through the platform of Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab, chaired by the Director of Institute of Applied Psychology, Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique, and moderated by Miss. Hamna Zahid. The talk focused around one of the major groups of mental illnesses that is the personality disorders which are long-term patterns of behavior and inner experiences that differ significantly from what is expected. The pattern of experience and behavior begins by late adolescence or early adulthood and causes distress or problems in functioning. It was emphasized how important it is that the diagnosis is made on time and the part played by the Clinical Psychologists in treatment of personality disorders. Moreover, the role of social and moral support was also discussed. The webinar was live streamed through the official Facebook page of IAP.
