PU-MMG Organized One Day Awareness Seminar On "World Wild Life Day" 1st March 2019


Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics plays a key role in progress of biological sciences not in the university but all over the country by providing well trained manpower in the fields of microbiology, molecular biology and molecular genetics. Department has long list of collaborating institutes working together for the betterment of mankind. There is a need to raise awareness about extraordinary diverse wild life in order to sustain their survival on earth as narrated by UN Secretary-General António Guterres. All the wild animals and plants are there for the welfare and incredible progress of human beings by adding value to ecological, genetic, social, economic, scientific, educational, cultural, recreational and aesthetic aspects.  By celebrating tis day we make people aware of the importance of our valuable flora and fauna, its beauty and its diversity. Nature has provided us these blessings and now it’s our duty to ponder for its conservation.At the same time, we should not forget to step up the fight against wildlife crime and reduction of species by humans causing wide-ranging economic, environmental and social impacts.One day awareness seminar was arrangedat the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics (MMG)by the organizing committee including Professor Dr.Sikandar Sultan (Chairman dept. of MMG),Dr. Samreen Riaz (Asst. Prof and Focal person Dept of MMG),Ms. Farah Qudsia (research scholar at MMG) and Ms. Snobia Munir (research scholar at MMG). Dr. Bushra Khan (Assistant Professor atCentre for Undergraduate Studies) was invited to speak on the topic. The event went very informative and more than 50participants from different classes attended it.
