Fourth Day of Sarir-e Khama Conference and Workshop at the College of Art and Design, University of the Punjab


In connection with the ongoing conference Sarir-e Khama (Art of the Pen) at the College of Art and Design, University of the Punjab, Lahore the fourth day was marked with the Calligraphy workshop. It was held on Friday, March 11, 2022, at the historic Senate Hall of the Punjab University.
The event was attended by a large number of people interested in Calligraphy and not only College teachers, students and students of other colleges and universities to learn calligraphy from national and international masters of this unique artform.
The workshop started with recitation of Holy Quran followed by the national anthem of Pakistan.  Two sessions of workshops were held for the participants. College Principal Prof. Dr. Sumera Jawad delivered the welcome address to the participants and the famous calligrapher Prof. Irfan Qureshi briefed the audience about the important aspects of the workshop and guided the audience on the preparation of traditional pen and ink, different types of calligraphy papers and various letters. Efdaluddin Kilic, a calligrapher from Turkey, briefed the audience on his significant experience and understanding of calligraphy, and gave a workshop on three major script styles, including Al-Raqa, Diwani, Thulth.  Iranian calligraphers Kazim Khorasani and Mehsa Divaci introduced the participants to Iranian Nasta'liq and their modern and unique calligraphy styles.
The conference and workshop shall continue till 12 March, 2022 at the Senate Hall of the Punjab University.
