Workshop on cotton leaf curl disease begins at PU


LAHORE: (Monday, August 26, 2013): A three-day training workshop on “Cotton Leaf Curl Disease (CLCuD) Diagnostics & Resistance” began at Punjab University Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAGS) here on Monday. MNA from PML-N Armghan Subhani, Director Agriculture Information Punjab Rafique Akhter, Director Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology Dr Tayyeb Husnain, IAGS Director Prof Dr Saleem Haider and research officers from various districts of the country participated in the workshop. Addressing the ceremony, Mr Subhani said that the workshop was beneficial to cope with disease related to cotton which would help improve economic conditions of our farmers.

Dr Saleem Haider said that speakers would throw light on various aspects the cotton leaf curl disease and the participants would also be briefed regarding the latest technology to control the disease. He said that the participants would be informed in detail regarding the research work being carried out at IAGS against the disease which would leave positive effects on the country’s economy.
