Vice Chancellor's Message

It is a my pleasure to welcome you to the First International Conference on “Recent Innovations in Molecular Sciences” being organized by the University of the Punjab during November 6-8, 2019. We plan to make it a regular feature on the University calendar. These conferences provide an excellent opportunity to discuss and update the participants with the rapidly expanding knowledge in the fields of molecular sciences and their vital role in understanding the biological processes. The recent advancements have allowed not only in understanding and finding cures for diseases, but also to achieve vast gains in the pharmaceutical, agricultural, industrial and environmental sectors.

The University of the Punjab, chartered in 1882, is the oldest and the largest University of Pakistan. Most of its departments, institutes, schools, colleges and centers are located at the vast and green landscape of Quid-e-Azam Campus. A canal running through the campus adds to its beauty. Teaching and research in the life and chemical sciences is done in several different institutions within the Faculties of Life Sciences, Sciences and Pharmacy. Many of these departments are amongst the most active institutions of the University both in the quality of teaching and research productivity. The theme of the conference, which is rather broad, has been chosen to enable the faculty and the researchers from all these disciplines to participate and present their research. Such interactions are likely not only to broaden the horizon of the participating scientists, particularly the younger ones, but also encourage multidisciplinary approaches to understanding problems and finding solutions. We are expecting many renowned scientists from UK and other countries participating in this conference. This conference will be a good opportunity to find collaborations, which can lead to planning and undertaking joint research programs.

Lahore is the second largest city of Pakistan. It has a rich historical past and vibrant cultural environment. The weather during the month of November is mild and pleasant. In addition to the fruitful scientific activities, visits to the historical sites combined with the local culinary traditions should make this event memorable for the visiting scientists. I, on behalf of the University of the Punjab, offer a warm welcome to all the participants, particularly those visiting from abroad, to this conference. The University shall provide all possible support to ensure comfort to the participants and in organizing this eventful conference.
