Turkey most advance in Scientific Research in Muslim world: Dr

LAHORE : (Friday, January 08, 2010): Punjab University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujhaid Kamran has said that Turkey was the most advance country in the field of scientific research in the whole Muslim world. He was talking to a four member Turkish delegation at his office. The delegation included Chairman Rumi Forum Mr Harun Koken, Principal Pak-Turk Schools and Colleges Mr Adem Akgedik, Mr Suat Erguan and Mr Turgut Puyan.
The delegation was told that PU was trying to establish a department of Turkish language since Turkish was being spoke in ten countries of the world. The vice-chancellor also expressed his desire to organize a seminar on Iqbal and Maulana Rumi in PU in order to spread awareness among students on the services of both Muslim thinkers, poets and philosophers. The VC also constituted a committee of senior teachers headed by Principal Oriental College Prof Dr Mazhar Moen to organize this seminar.
Earlier Prof Mazhar briefed the delegation about the Turkish language diploma course of the oriental college. He said in the 1950s Turkish language classes were started in the college and later under an agreement the Turkish government started sending teachers for these classes. He said PU linkage with Turkish government and their Education Ministry were very affective. He said there were 10 Turkish speaking countries in the world and Turkey was an important language n the Muslim world. Prof Mazhar said PU oriental college was trying to establish a separate department for teaching Turkish, Arabic, Persian and other languages.
He said PU had effective academic linkage with Istanbul University , and Ankara University . Director External Linkages Miss Maria Maldonado, Muhammad Ikramullah, Prof Dr Saleem Mazhar, Prof Dr Hafiz Mahmood Akhtar and Prof Dr Sajid Ali were also present on the occasion.
