Introduction:
The course focuses on modern American poets and is developed from the perspective of nurturing students’ sensibility for transatlantic literature since after the Second World War American literature has gained an enormous attention of academic circles.
Objectives:
The objective of this course is to introduce students to the complexity and pleasure of poetry. They will learn about aesthetics of ethnic American poetry by reading it in the context of Western and non-Western poetic traditions.

Sylvia Plath, Adrienne Rich, John Ashbury, Richard Wilbur
Outcome:
The course emphasizes close reading of the texts, and there will be frequent writing assignments.
