Mr. Ihsan Ghani, former IG KPK & DG Intelligence Bureau delivered a key note address at a One Day Seminar on "Non-Traditional Security Challenges to South Asia", held at Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS), University of the Punjab, Lahore, on September 20, 2024. He discussed the concept of Non-Traditional threats & underscored how do they cause societal and political instability and therefore become threats to security. While discussing South Asia, Mr. Ghani said that South Asia is endowed with abundant natural resources. However, like other developing world, it has so far failed to realize its full potential. He also talked about Pakistan's Security Matrix & how regional and International influences keep exploiting the Fault-Lines. He ended with the note that the region needs a paradigm shift to solve its multifaceted problems. Focusing on non-traditional security challenges would be one way of preventing the region from further chaos and instability.
