School of Biological Sciences (SBS) is celebrating 20 years of academic excellence in the field of Life Sciences. With its state of the art laboratories and leading scientists, it has trained critical minds to provide research leadership in the country. SBS has made vital contributions to research on indigenous problems of Genetic Disorders, Environmental Toxicology, Infectious Diseases, Cancer Treatment, Biopharmaceutical Products, Industrial Enzymes and Sustainable Agriculture. In this conference, SBS aims to inspire national and international intellectuals with its accomplishments. The International Conference on Advances in Biological Sciences (ICABS) aims to congregate the world’s leading scientists to enlighten and share research ideas for mutual benefit. The School of Biological Sciences (SBS), University of the Punjab, Lahore was established in 2002 with the "prime mandate" to impart quality education/research guidance of international standard to M.Phil and Ph.D students in the broader domain of Biological Sciences. To achieve this goal, SBS in a short span of two decades has developed infrastructure which is at par with international standards and has emerged as a focal point for research activities in the realm of modern-day biology. Human Resource development is another cornerstone of the objectives of the SBS. The School is also engaged in providing quality education and research environment not only to its own students but also from other life sciences departments/institutes of the university as well as of the country. The School has progressed to its present level of excellence under the able guidance and devoted leadership of its first Director General, Prof. Dr. M. Akhtar FRS, its Directors and world class faculty having a track record of high standard international research and academic credentials. The School has produced 100 Ph.Ds, published 662 high impact factor research papers, won 41 competitive research grants from national and international donor agencies and have 7 patents to its credit, so far.

In my capacity as the director general and chief organizer as well as on behalf of the faculty of the School of Biological Sciences (SBS) at University of the Punjab, I warmly welcome you to the forthcoming 2023 International conference on Advances in Biological Sciences (ICABS-2023). The conference is scheduled to be held at SBS, University of the Punjab from 6-8 March 2023 as a celebration of 20 years of research excellence. The three-day conference provides a platform for researchers to share cutting edge science related to health, agriculture and environment.
