Bazyaft a biannual research journal, approved by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC), started in 2001, is published by Department of Urdu, Oriental College, Punjab University Lahore. Though it publishes mostly articles in Urdu, articles written in English are also included. The journal publishes articles on diverse subjects ranging from the humanities, social sciences to socio-cultural, literary and linguistic issues. The journal’s editorial policy adheres strictly to the standards set by HEC. Each submission to Bazyaft has been subject to an extensive review process. First, it is reviewed by the editor and/or editorial committee for general suitability for publication. If it is considered suitable, two expert peer reviewers are selected and a double blind review takes place. Based on the recommendations of the reviewers a decision is taken as to whether the article is accepted or it is/returned for revision/rejected.
Bazyaft has brought out some special issues on great poets of Urdu like Meer Taqi Meer, Miraji, N M Rashid and Faiz Ahmad Faiz.
Bazyaft has been reviewed in Dawn, The News, Daily Times, prestigious English dailies and in Urdu literary magazines. Its articles have been abundantly referred by authors and research scholars.
