Al-Hikmat: A Journal of Philosophy is a double blind peer reviewed journal of the Department of Philosophy, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. Like Greek term 'Sophia', the Arabic term Al-Hikmat means 'wisdom'. Etymologically the term 'Philosophy' denotes 'love for wisdom'. In the oriental tradition, ‘Al-Hikmat’ refers to the theoretical and practical approaches to wisdom. For the publication of philosophical research in Pakistan, the Department of Philosophy, University of the Punjab, Lahore, started its journal Al-Hikmat in 1967. Professor C. A. Qadir was its founder editor. The cardinal end of Al-Hikmat is to publish philosophical research on the problems related to Pakistan and the world. Al-Hikmat publishes research in both Oriental and Western philosophy. Al-Hikmat is being published annually. It publishes articles in English written by national and international scholars. The editor, along with the editorial board, with the help of the advisory board, edits the journal meticulously and ensures that only high-quality and properly researched articles are to be published. The editors do not assume any responsibility for the views expressed by the authors.
