Author Guidelines
Article types
- Research articles should make a substantial contribution to knowledge and understanding in the subject matter and should be supported by relevant figures and tabulated data. Moreover, they must describe the outcomes and application of unpublished original research. These Research articles should be 4000-6000 words in length.
- Short Reports - 1000-3000 words
- Reviews - 1000-1500 words
- Book Reviews -1250 words
- Portfolio – 500-1000 words
Submission Preparation
Original Articles
- Should be written with the following elements in the following order: title page; abstract; keywords; main text introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion; acknowledgments; declaration of interest statement; references; appendices (as appropriate); table(s) with caption(s) (on individual pages); figures; figure captions (as a list)
- Should be no more than 6,000 words, inclusive of the abstract, tables, references, figure captions, footnotes, endnotes.
- Should contain an abstract of 120/150 words.
Book Reviews/Short Reports/Reviews
- Please structure the title for the above-mentioned categories as follows:
- 'xxxxx (optional short title of your choice). A Review of xxx (Name of book/Exhibition) by (author name)'.
- Then, as a subtitle, please the following information: name of author/artist, publisher, extent, publication year, ISBN (13-digit). Additional information (if applicable): name of editor/photographer/translator, number of colour illustrations.
Permissions
- The author is responsible for obtaining all permissions required prior to submission of the manuscript. Permission and owner details should be mentioned for all third-party content included in the submission or used in the research.
Portfolio
- The purpose of the portfolio submission is to encourage and promote practice-led visual/design work that provides a new perspective about a visual trend or phenomena. It must consist of the following:
- An artist’s statement of 500-1,000 words that contextualizes the work and provides impact and meaning to the larger visual community
- 10 black and white and coloured figures/images with captions.
- A bio of 50-100 words
Structure of the Paper
- Format - The files should be in Microsoft Word format (docx). The font style and size should be Georgia 12 with Double Line spacing.
- Title page
- Author details. All authors of a manuscript should include their full name and affiliation on the cover page of the manuscript. Where available, please also include ORCiDs and social media handles (Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn). One author will need to be identified as the corresponding author.
- Abstract
- Research articles must have the main text prefaced by an abstract of no more than 100-150 words summarising the main arguments and conclusions of the article.
- A list of up to five key words must be placed below the abstract.
- Main Text
The body of the submission should be structured in a logical and easy to follow manner. A clear introduction section should be given that allows non-specialists in the subject an understanding of the publication, which should be followed by other sections that may include Methods, Results, Discussion and Conclusion.
Up to three level headings may be present and must be clearly identifiable using different font sizes, bold or italics. We suggest using Headings 1, 2 and 3 in MS-Word’s ‘Style’ section.
- Introduction
- Discussion
- Conclusion
- References – Turabian Reference Style should be followed.
- Tables/Illustrations – All figures must be cited within the main text, in consecutive order using Arabic numerals (e.g., Figure 1, Figure 2, etc.). Each figure must have an accompanying descriptive main title. This should clearly and concisely summarise the content and/or use of the figure image.
Printing and Publication Charges
The Journal do not charge any processing, publication, or printing fees from the author/s. |
