In 1968, educationists from the Institute of Education and Research (I.E.R), University of the Punjab, envisioned the establishment of a Laboratory School to test and refine theoretically grounded knowledge within a controlled educational environment prior to its wider implementation across the country. To meet the evolving academic and professional needs of I.E.R participants, John Dewey’s Laboratory School at Indiana University, USA, was taken as a benchmark, leading to the establishment of the University Laboratory High School.
The Laboratory School provides a structured setting where participants of I.E.R integrate theoretical knowledge with practical application under the direct supervision of qualified coordinators. The collaborative efforts of experienced faculty members and student teachers, enriched with contemporary pedagogical knowledge, contribute to the development and application of effective teaching practices, ensuring high-quality educational exposure.
Today, after several decades of growth and development, the University Laboratory High School has achieved significant advancement in both human and material resources, enabling it to respond effectively to the ever-evolving challenges of the modern world. Its students have made notable contributions at national and international levels across various fields. The school is supported by highly qualified, dynamic, committed, and experienced teachers, along with competent, cooperative, and efficient leadership and management.
