Instructions for Author
 
 

Journal of Behavioural Sciences (JBS) is a research journal published by the Department of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan on biannual basis since 1991. JBS encourages articles from different specializations in psychology and allied discipline covering all aspects of human behaviour. Although original articles based on empirical data are preferred, brief reports, review articles and single case studies are also considered for publication in the JBS.

JBS has a double blind peer reviewing policy. Initial screening for the suitability of the article for publication in JBS is carried out by the editorial committee and subsequently the manuscript is sent for blind reviewing. Each article is reviewed by one local professional and one professional from academically advanced countries. Authors are informed about the comments or suggestions of the reviewers and are required to revise their paper in stipulated time period.

The author(s) have to provide an undertaking that: a) the material given in the article is original (not plagiarized); b) those who contributed in various capacities have either been included as authors or have been duly acknowledged; c) the manuscripts submitted to the JBS for publication is not submitted or published elsewhere. Agreement and undertaking form is provided by the JBS committee to the authors subsequent to manuscript submission. It is important that the submitting author(s) comply with the ethics laid down by the APA in its recent publication manual.  Per HEC policy, the paper will be published subject to its clearance for plagiarism.

Preparation of Manuscript: Articles written only in English language are accepted for publication. Spellings should follow Webster's Dictionary or Oxford English Dictionary. All submissions including book reviews must have a title, left aligned, Font size 12, Font type Times New Roman, be double spaced with margin of 3cm all round.

Title page: the title page shall list (1) full title of up to 12 words, which should be concise but informative; (2) a short running head of 3 to 4 words; (3) all authors' names along with their Institutes of affiliation; (4) Full postal address, including email, telephone and fax number of the corresponding author. The corresponding author is the one whom correspondence and reprint requests are to be sent. The author(s) names should only appear in the title page as the review process requires anonymity.  

Abstract: Should range between 120-150 words for all articles except for book reviews. An abstract is a concise summary of the whole paper, not just the conclusions. It should state the purpose of the study, hypotheses, method, analysis, main findings and conclusions.

Introduction: contains theoretical framework, rational of the study, review of updated and relevant researches. Objectives and hypotheses are required to be clearly listed. Method section should include design of the study, sample description, assessment protocols, ethical considerations and procedure of data collection. 

Results: Present your results in logical sequence in the text, tables and illustrations (Figures). Do not repeat in the text all the data in the table or figures; emphasize only important ones. Tables, Figures and illustrations must be placed on separate sheets after the references and prepared according to the APA's prescribed format. Each table must have a title, be numbered in sequence with Arabic numerals.  Clear notes should be made by the author(s) at approximate point of insertion in the text.  

Discussion: Discuss major findings; emphasize new and important aspects of the study and implications & conclusions follow from them. Repetition of the material in Introduction section and Results be avoided.

References: Follow APA's latest manual format for writing references in the text and list of references.
