Journal of Elementary Education (JEE) is the official journal of Department of Elementary Education, Institute of Education and Research (IER) published since 1992. This department was first established as Department of Primary Education in 1960 and as Department of Elementary Education in 1988. The JEE publishes peer reviewed empirical research, in the field of Elementary Education. All articles/contributions submitted to the JEE are blind reviewed by a panel of reviewers. It is published biannually (first in June and second in December). The beneficiaries of this journal may be the educators, teacher educators, educational researchers, policy makers, educational administrators, managers, supervisors, institutional heads, educational leaders, educational planners, higher education learners and practitioners working in the field of education. The authors are the sole responsible not only for their point of view reflected in research/papers but also for any type of plagiarism in their paper published in the JEE.

            The JEE in full text is freely accessible through internet to disseminate the quality research and to facilitate the stakeholders. However the hard copies can be supplied on payment (Rs. 500 for each copy). Authors have the right to use their published work for their academic and professional use by indicating the proper bibliographic citation. For all other uses written permission is needed from the editor of the JEE. All rights are reserved with Department of Elementary Education, Institute of Education and Research, University of the Punjab, Pakistan.

This journal is recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in "Y" category.


The aim of Journal of Elementary Education is the dissemination of research findings at national and international level to enhance quality and harmonize elementary education at global horizons.  


The objectives of Journal of Elementary Education are as follows:

  1. Special emphasis on improving the teacher education practices at elementary level. 

  2. Enhance quality of education at elementary education. 

  3. Improve quality of research at elementary level. 

  4. Provide input for the policy formation at elementary level. 

  5. Give input for curriculum development at elementary level.

  6. Address the issues of all stakeholders at elementary level i.e. teachers, students, parents, and community. 

  7. Share the international practices of elementary level to improve the elementary education across the globe.  


The scope of the Journal of Elementary Education includes, but not limited to, the following. 

  1. Teacher education and teaching and learning process at elementary level. 

  2. Literacy and non-formal education at elementary level. 

  3. Pre-service elementary teacher education. 

  4. Research methods in elementary education including qualitative, quantitative, mix methods, action research etc. 

  5. Developmental studies at elementary level. 

  6. Student learning, achievement, behaviour, motivation and development at elementary level. 

  7. Curriculum development and policy formation

  8. Teacher training and capacity building

  9. Guidance and counselling

  10. Comparative education

  11. Inclusive education and special needs education

  12. Leadership and supervision at elementary level.
