Dr. Nasir Ahmad completed his B. Sc. (Hons.) and M. Sc. (Hons.) in Food Science and Technology from University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. Afterwards, he served at different food industries in quality assurance department. He did Ph.D. from, School of Biological Sciences (SBS), University of the Punjab, Lahore and started academic career in 2011, as Lecturer (Food Technology) at Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAGS), University of the Punjab, Lahore. PhD research work of Dr. Nasir Ahmad resulted in a US Patent (US9340778 B2) which is PAKISTAN’S FIRST INTERNATIONAL PATENT IN THE FIELD OF INDUSTRIAL ENZYMES. He was appointed as Assistant Professor (TTS) at IAGS in 2015 and promoted as Associate Professor (Tenured) at SBS in 2022.
Besides US Patent, Dr. Nasir Ahmad has also filed a local Patent (Application # 520/2025) and published many research articles in international peer reviewed journals. He has won many competitive research grants, amounting to more than 42 million PKR
During tenure track service Dr. Nasir Ahmad has developed a number of marketable products, such as thermostable enzymes including pullulanase, amylase, amylomaltase, maltogenic amylase and microbiological grade yeast extract, which are in process for commercialization. He has strong connections with local industry through working on collaborative research projects. An Intellectual Property License Agreement was signed with a partner industry. An amount of 1.9 million PKR was earned in terms of contract research grants from industry.
Dr. Nasir Ahmad was awarded HEC’s Best Innovator Award for the year 2015/2016. He has also won many Technology Awards and Innovation Award during 5th, 6th, 9th and 10th Invention to Innovation Summits organized of ORIC at Punjab University.
