Dr. Naveed Shahzad is working as an Assistant Professor in School of Biological Sciences (SBS), University of the Punjab Lahore, Pakistan. He had graduation in veterinary medicine from University of Agriculture Faisalabad and Masters in microbiology from the same Alma matter. Later, in 2008, Dr. Shahzad was granted HEC Overseas Scholarship for PhD in France. Over there, he worked with Prof. Dr. Massimo Tommasino in a WHO Laboratory and conducted his research work on the immune-evasion mechanism of oncogenic polyomaviruses. His findings were published in high impact factor journals and got chance to deliver presentations at a number of international conferences held in France, Italy, Germany and Pakistan.
During his stay at SBS, Dr. Shahzad is carrying out research on multiple aspects of cancer and oncogenic viruses such as polyoma and pappiloaviruses viruses. His research work involves the molecular based epidemiology, mechanisms of immune-evasion, alteration of host genetic environment and neoplastic transformation by these oncoviruses. On the other hand, he is also interested in epigenetics and therapeutics of breast cancer. He is well-versed in the fields of Cell and Molecular Biology, Microbiology/Tumor Virology and Oncogenesis/Cancer Biology.
