Dr. Nousheen Zaidi earned her Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Eberhard Karls University, Tübingen, Germany, in 2008. She pursued postdoctoral research at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, New York City, until 2010. In 2011, she joined the Drug Discovery Group (Oncology) at Johnson & Johnson, Belgium, where she focused on tumor metabolism. In 2012, Dr. Zaidi moved to the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Punjab University, Lahore. Her research lab investigates various aspects of cancer biology, including tumor metabolism and innovative cancer treatment strategies. From 2017 to 2022, Dr. Zaidi was a visiting scientist at Charité — Universitätsmedizin Berlin and the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing, Berlin. Supported by the Humboldt Foundation (2017–21) and DAAD (2022), she contributed to pioneering projects aimed at advancing cancer biology research. Beyond her contributions to cancer research, Dr. Zaidi spearheads a nationwide water quality mapping initiative. Her team has analyzed over 2,200 water samples, identifying multiple contamination zones in Lahore. This initiative is now expanding to 200 cities across Pakistan, offering critical insights into waterborne illnesses and environmental health issues. Dr. Zaidi also manages operations at the stunting-focused Roshan Clinic and serves as a director at the Action Research Collective, addressing pressing public health challenges in Pakistan. Her multidisciplinary approach combines cutting-edge research, community outreach, and practical interventions to tackle complex health and environmental issues. |
