I am Dr. Munawar Ahmed Malik, working as Assistant Professor in Department of special education, University of the Punjab. Besides a carrier as special educationist, I also hold specialization in the field of speech and language therapy.
During my professional carrier I served at National institute for the handicapped Islamabad as a speech therapist for seven years. Later, I joined MENCAP, an organization for the mentally challenged in UK for about two years at Birmingham, U.K. Served at Hamza Foundation Academy, a school for deaf as Principal for six years before joining Punjab University in 2013.
I am a strong proponent of inclusive education and believe it as a choice option for coming times in Pakistan. My areas of interest include communication, reading, writing and language. I am indebted to my teachers Professor Dr. Muhammad Mahmood Hussain Awan, Professor Dr. Naseer-Ud Din and Professor Dr. Abdul Hameed whom will always shine brighter to the rest, whenever the history of Special Education is written for Pakistan. I have also been honored to attend multiple national and international conferences within the country which have contributed tremendously in my learning.
I have written multiple articles in these domains in national journals. Few of them include: “Psychological, social and swallowing issues linked to persons with disabilities”, in Pakistan Journal of Special Education, 2015 Vol. 16., page 187-194.
