Dr. Shafiq ur Rehman did his Bachelor of Science in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, University of the Punjab, Lahore and his PhD from university of Nottingham UK. During his PhD, he worked on characterization of Hepatitis C envelope gene variations during chronic infections on viral evasion from host immune immune system and affinity with entry receptors. Dr. Rehman is currently working on utilizing the potential of bacterial viruses (bacteriophages) for making novel antibiotics against multidrug resistant bacterial pathogen. Dr Rehman has secured the research funding form Higher education commission of Pakistan to find the novel bacteriophages to be used as antibiotics against bacterial pathogen. Dr. Rehman has actively participated in many national and international conferences. Currently he is supervising research students from undergraduates to Ph.D. level. |
