MMG7601: RESEARCH METHODS
Overview
THEORY: Microscopy (simple, phase contrast, fluorescent, electron), Centrifugation ( simple and Ultra), Spectrophotometry, Electrophoresis, Gel filtration, Chromatography (TLC, GC,CLS, HPLC and Ion exchange, Photographic techniques (simple and microphotography). Amplification of DNA, Use of computer for genetic analysis, Amino acid sequencing and DNA sequencing, Tissues, Cell and protoplast culture. Kinetics of molecular hybridization, Radio Immuno assay and Immuno diffusion, Southern and Northern blotting, Radioisotope studies in biological systems, Tests for chemical carcinogens.
PRACTICALS: Conduction of labs of the available equipment in the department and demonstration of techniques at various research labs of the University.
