Post-graduate Diploma in Remote Sensing and Geo-informatics. The course has been designed to furnish a strong foundation for Earth scientists, Geologists, Geographers, Agronomists, Soil Scientists, Agriculturists, Town planners and Environmentalists through the application of aerial and satellite remote sensing techniques towards resource exploration and management. The remote sensing allows the user to examine greater spatial areas more efficiently than could ever be achieve using traditional field base investigation techniques. The Geo-informatics complement of the diploma course, has a synergy with remote sensing. Spatial Information Systems combine the standard principles of cartography and geography with modern information technology to create sophisticated, flexible, and powerful tools for spatial analysis, planning and research, equally good for both the skilled and non-skilled cadre. The course is aimed at the awareness of the multi-disciplinary applications of remote imaging and geo-spatial information handling.
