Program Introduction
The BS in Social Work at the Department of Social Work, University of the Punjab, Lahore is a leading undergraduate program designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and mindset required to cater to the welfare needs of the marginalized and vulnerable segments of the society and to address prevalent social problems. Through a mix of theoretical foundations including ethical guidelines, practical training, and real-world experiences, students will learn to design, launch, and sustain social interventions that bring positive change in the lives of individuals, groups and communities.
Program Objectives
The objectives of an academic degree program are to;

To prepare trained, qualified and skilled human resources for Social Welfare activities and Community Services for public and private social sector.

To meet the regional and national shortage of high-quality Social Workers.

To prepare high quality accredited social workers besides generating revenue for University of the Punjab.

Vision
The Department of Social Work is firmly committed to impart knowledge and skill of social work and social welfare to the students through teaching, research and field work experiences. We are committed to the society for promoting social welfare through policy formulation, research, and training human resources to run social welfare programs. The primary purpose of the Department of Social Work in University of the Punjab is to provide yearly a group of trained social workers, equipped with the basic knowledge and skills to assist government and private agencies in the sound development of their welfare programs. These programs will require the services of social workers who possess many kinds of abilities.

The Department of Social Work prepares social work practitioners committed to social justice and to serving and empowering individuals, families, and communities. It contributes to the development and dissemination of social work knowledge and skills, and affirms professional values and ethics.
