Dr. Muhammad Ajaz Hussain is a Professor of Organic Chemistry (Tenure Track) at the School of Chemistry, University of the Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan. He is an internationally recognized researcher in organic synthesis, polysaccharide chemistry, biomaterials, nanomedicine, and pharmaceutical applications of natural polymers. He earned his PhD from the Centre of Excellence for Polysaccharide Research, Friedrich-Schiller University, Jena, Germany, and conducted postdoctoral research at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia, as an Endeavour Research Fellow. Dr. Hussain’s work focuses on polysaccharide-based hydrogels, macromolecular prodrugs, controlled and targeted drug delivery, green synthesis of silver nanoparticles, water purification, heavy-metal removal, and stimuli-responsive biomaterials, integrating fundamental chemistry with applied pharmaceutical and environmental sciences. He has supervised numerous postgraduate students and is an HEC-approved PhD supervisor. With an h-index of 38, i10-index of 116, and over 5,400 citations, he has published 175 research articles with more than 656 impact factor in leading journals including Carbohydrate Polymers, Cellulose, International Journal biological macromolecules, and RSC Advances, and authored a research monograph and book chapters with Springer, Wiley, Elsevier, and CRC Press. Dr. Hussain has received multiple awards, including the HEC Best University Teacher Award and PCST Research and Productivity Awards. He serves as Review Editor for Frontiers in Pharmacology, Editorial board member for Carbohydrate Polymers, and sits on editorial boards, and reviews for top-tier journals, advancing sustainable, biocompatible solutions in chemistry, medicine, and environmental science.
