Human Resources Development Centre, Institute of Administrative Sciences organized Faculty Orientation Program 2014 from August 19-22. This is the fourteenth program offered by Human Resources Development Centre (HRDC). Thirty participants who were faculty members belonging to various departments of Punjab University attended the Faculty Orientation Program. Vice Chancellor, Punjab University, Prof. Dr. Mujahid Kamran graced the event with his presence and addressed the audience on inauguration of the program.
 
 
He advised the faculty members to inculcate reading habits and properly schedule and structure their lectures for effectiveness. Dean, Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ehsan Malik addressed and congratulated the faculty members. Director, Institute of Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen briefed about the context, broader aims, themes and values of the Faculty Orientation Program. In second session Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal Jadoon talked about University Governance and Reform Context of Pakistan. He comprehensively covered the institutional context of Pakistan, history of Punjab University and global trends in Higher Education. Later on administrative structure of Punjab University and role of Registrar office was discussed by Additional Registrar-I, Dr. Kamran Abid. Last session of the first day of Faculty Orientation Program was a panel discussion on the topic of What Makes a Good University Teacher. Chairperson of the Department of English Language and Literature, Dr. Amra Raza, renowned, Biochemist and a scientist in the biomedical field, Prof. Dr. Saeed Nagra and Director, Institute of Administrative Sciences, Prof. Dr. Nasira Jabeen were the respected panelists. On 2nd and 3rd day, training program entitled as “Communicating Effectively” was arranged. In this training program, a module by International Finance Corporation (which is a subsidiary of the World Bank) was successfully completed by Ms. Rafia Hussain who is a certifies trainer of USAID Grameen Bank and IFC Business Edge. On 4 th and last day microteaching activity was conducted. Later on Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen and Dr. Muhammad Rafique discussed tips and techniques of Research, Academic Publication and Information Resource Management. It was followed by the session of Major Nouman Majeed on the topic of Time Management. Last session of the day was about Professionalism and Ethics for University teachers and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hafeez chaired the session. At the end in closing ceremony, certificates of participation were distributed among the participants by the Dean, Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences, Prof. Dr. Ehsan Malik. Few participants reflected, shared their thoughts and extended their appreciation about Faculty Orientation Program.
